Studio Brand Photos on Film & Super 8

So funny story: I went viral on TikTok and Instagram last year for a wedding video. Margot, who was about to start her own wedding planning business in the DMV area, found me through it. She thought it was kismet that I do her branding session for her new website! Check out Margot and Co Creative, a DC-based wedding planning and design company, to see the photos in action!

The Vision Behind this Creative Branding Session

Our vision, creativity, and the way we interact with clients and other businesses are remarkably similar. She loves an alternative or untraditional wedding couple, just like me. She’s obsessed with film and loved that I also shoot Super 8 film. We knew we wanted to use both mediums for her brand photos!

We booked her branding session in my natural light studio in Baltimore. Margot and her teammate came in with the most stunning custom sets. They brought in She Loves Me, an amazing florist in DC, to adorn their tables. They used Stradley Davidson for their linens, Something Vintage for their rentals, and Minted Weddings for their stationery. Don’t even get me started on their chic and sparkly outfits and custom matching sweat suits.

Unconventional Brand Photos on Film

Margot wanted to speak to the film loving wedding couple. The couple who goes for the unique design, instead of the classic and traditional. The couple that wants to weird flowers, or unique patterning. They serve the client with a distinct and stylish design eye and Margot wanted their branding to reflect just that.

We played with medium format film, 35mm film point and shoot, unique flat lay and detail shots, flash, unique lighting, and (of course) a super cool Super 8 film. The film starts right when you go to their website and gives you a taste of their style! In just a few hours in the studio, we created something super cool and totally unique. I love what Margot & Co. is bringing to the DMV wedding scene!

Working with not only another woman-owned business was amazing, of course. But this wasn’t just another business. Margot & Co. is a new business, forging its way in the wedding space, my space. This was such a great way for Margot and I to get to know each other. Now, we really understand each other’s vision. When we work weddings together, we are in total sync the whole time!
