A Thoughtful Early Autumn Wedding at the Fathom Gallery in Washington DC

WEDDINGS

We love those spots in DC where if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you might pass it. It’s a chic IYKYK kind of feeling and The Fathom Gallery is just that. The Fathom Gallery is an art gallery turned event venue, where they will print, frame, and hang your photographs from your life, engagement session, or heirloom memories as part of an immersive gallery experience. As DC wedding photographers, we love nothing more than unique, intimate wedding venues with big personalities. It was the perfect venue for Ally and Chris, who’s easygoing love and thoughtful details felt right out of a movie.

Getting Ready at the The Poppy in Georgetown

Ally and Chris’s wedding was full of personal details, starting with the thrifted shirts Ally embroidered for each of her bridesmaids! Their early fall wedding embraced a light fall color palette, with dusty rose, pale green, burnt orange, and creamy whites. Ally’s bridesmaids wore variations on these colors and carried purses that Ally thrifted for each of them to match their dresses – the moms too! Ally herself wore a stunning vintage Danielle Frankel gown with a sheer lace top and open back, matched with a perfectly soft bouquet by Yarrow and Co.

The bride and groom shared a private first look in The Poppy courtyard. They then wandered the Georgetown streets, soaking in a beautiful early autumn afternoon. Their street style portraits on film are so full of emotion and nostalgia, perfectly capturing the feeling of being together in the moments leading up to their ceremony.

Tented Wedding Ceremony in the Fathom Gallery Courtyard

The Fathom Gallery created a private garden beneath the clear top tent in the courtyard. Guests were greeted with custom cocktails, not having to wait for cocktail hour to get the party started. This created a lively and festive atmosphere as guests greeted each other. They reserved seats for their closest family members while the rest of their guests gathered at bistro-style tables during their ceremony. Ally and Chris were framed by cascading florals and all of their loved ones as they shared their vows.

Reception in the Gallery

The wedding transitioned straight into cocktail hour, giving everyone an opportunity to congratulate Ally and Chris before trickling into the gallery. The best part about hosting a wedding at the Fathom Gallery is how you can customize to your liking! Ally and Chris kept the space clean and minimal, opting for long, family-style tables for dinner. Stunning florals and romantic candles lined the tables. Pictures from their engagement session with us adorned the walls while the floral centerpieces kept the room feeling like an intimate garden party.

After dinner and speeches (and a cupcake cutting), the dance floor was full all night! Chris and Ally’s guests knew how to party and kept the energy high well into the evening. I was able to sneak Ally and Chris away from the party to snap a few photos outside, beneath the iconic glowing Georgetown sign. Before the night was over, I gifted them a gallery of Polaroids I had taken throughout the day. I loved seeing their reactions at the wonderful moments my team and I captured!

DC Luxury Film Wedding Photographer

I absolutely loved documenting this wedding at the Fathom Gallery. The Fathom Gallery is one of the best-kept secrets in the DC area. I was so happy Ally and Chris had me photograph wedding here! (You can check out my last Fathom Gallery wedding here, published in Carats & Cake). It was such a privilege to capture their wedding day memories on film, digital, and Polaroids.

Replying to @Jai this was truly such a thoughtful and sweet gesture from the bride who spent a year sourcing her bridesmaids bags and then they could take them home! Flowers die, bags are forever!! #bridesmaidsdresses #bridesmaidsgifts #luxuryweddingphotographer
