As a photographer in based in Baltimore, MD, I love having families, couples, babies, and fur babies in the studio. My new studio is in a super cool old industrial building in Woodberry, Baltimore. It’s such a cool space that is filled with fellow photographers, wedding vendors like florists and planners, creative businesses, and artists.
My studio has lofted, white ceilings, large cathedral windows that allow billows of light to fill the space, the original wood flooring, a private bathroom, and so many different backdrops and furniture props to work with! I love getting creative with my clients with different color back drops and props, but I always love to come back to the simple and clean white walls.
Hi, I’m Rachel King – a film wedding & lifestyle (think family, branding, studio) photographer serving Baltimore, Washington, D.C., New York City, and destination. Creating a custom photography experience that makes you feel seen, have fun, and leaves you with gorgeous heirloom film photographs is always my goal. Nostalgic documentary film and crisp editorial portraits that make you feel like you’re on the cover of Vogue is my sweet spot. With over 10 years of film photography and 5 years of wedding industry experience, I’m here to share beautiful images and all the knowledge I have for a stress free and beautiful wedding or session experience.

A studio session, especially for families, is so special! Not only is it a great option during the winter months, but it allows for families to get cozy, play together, and be able to easily change outfits. A studio session is also a great option for couples or families who might feel nervous or uncomfortable in public, to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Families can act goofy, run around, play music, and be authentically them. Sometimes its the stripping down of all the noise around you to really celebrate the magic in front of you.
If you’re on the fence about booking your family studio session and you think it might be too difficult to get your family together for a full session, I have great options! A few times a year (usually in the colder months), I host Mini Session Days, where you can come in with your family for 30 or even 15 minutes to have your photos taken on film. I work with medium format and 35mm film, Polaroid, point and shoot, and even Super 8 film. My family studio sessions are a beautiful way to preserve a moment in time that can go by so quickly, even without blinking.
I always tell my couples and families, if you’re ever unsure if you should do the photos or not, do it. You’ll never regret having the photos but you may regret not having them.
I’m sharing a few of my favorite family sessions, all on film and all taken with not more than 30 minutes in the studio. When you book a studio session with me, you will receive my What to Wear Guide that helps you pick out the perfect complimenting outfits and really feel like you, an option for background colors, and plenty of furniture pieces to create fun, sentimental, and dynamic film heirloom photographs.
“Rachel is truly incredible!! She made us both so comfortable and got some wonderful shots out of my super camera/smile-shy husband. She also took shots that captured the essence of our relationship – fun, playful, silly, and adoring. We enjoyed sharing our photos, using them for this years holiday card, and printing to send to family. This is my second photoshoot with Rachel. You cannot go wrong choosing her!!”
