If you’ve been searching for a wedding venue that’s equal parts whimsical garden party and grand architecture, Gramercy Mansion is the venue for you. Located right outside of Baltimore City in Stevenson, Maryland, Gramercy Mansion is a historic bed and breakfast filled with vintage chandeliers, antique paintings, and surrounded by lush gardens. Its mix of classic charm and eclectic character made it the perfect venue for Taylor and Jarod’s early autumn wedding. We were so happy to document their celebration through film and digital photography, plus the unique nostalgia of Super 8 videography.

Taylor and Jarod got ready for their wedding with their wedding parties in the one-of-a-kind, sunlit rooms at the Gramercy Mansion. Taylor wore a timeless satin gown with a flared skirt and buttons down the entire back, and Jarod wore a classic black tuxedo with a bow tie and suspenders. The couple shared their first look in the sprawling gardens. In the privacy of the gardens, the couple shared a few tender moments before we captured some pre-ceremony portraits of the wedding party and families around the grounds.

The ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Carriage House, a beautiful open space surrounded by manicured hedges, flowers, and trees. Taylor and Jarod made many of their own traditions, starting by having their bridesmaids and groomsmen seated during the ceremony! This is a favorite trend of mine, which lets your closest friends witness your ceremony from the best perspective. The bride and groom exchanged handwritten vows, rings, and smashed the glass while their guests shouted, “Mazel Tov!”

The ceremony concluded just as the sun began to set. Taylor, Jarod, and their guests transitioned to an outdoor cocktail hour with custom drinks and live jazz. Guests were so happy to congratulate the new husband and wife, and Taylor and Jarod spent the hour greeting loved ones, toasting to their future, and taking fun photos with their favorite people. Just before the reception, we stole Taylor and Jarod away for sunset portraits in the garden. One of my favorite things about Gramercy Mansion is how effortlessly beautiful every corner can be. Everywhere we went, the backdrop was stunning. We got incredible film and digital photos, taking full advantage of the golden light, rich green foliage, and incredible architecture of the Gramercy Mansion and Carriage House.

Dinner was held indoors, in the Green Room. With candles, chandeliers, string lights, and florals designed by the bride’s cousin, the reception was warm and romantic. The large windows gave guests a garden view while the exposed brickwork made the reception feel almost like a greenhouse. Guests were given glasses of champagne with their table numbers and invited to sign the guestbook and enjoy the celebration! Dancing turned into cake cutting, which turned into outfit change, which turned into dessert from a local ice cream truck, Taharka. The joy and laughter flowed endlessly, and the party ended with late-night Chick-fil-A sandwiches on the dance floor!

I think the whole team was smiling ear-to-ear for this entire wedding. Jarod and Taylor’s friends knew how to party, and they brought the energy to the dance floor. It was a joy to capture this wedding at Gramercy Mansion on film, digital, and Super 8. If you’re looking for a team to capture your wedding as it unfolds organically, we would love to hear from you!
